Vibram Bikila
Vibram founder Vitale Bramani began inventing shoes in 1935 by adding rubber soles to hiking or mountaineering boots. The Five Fingers line was presented to Vitale’s grandson, Marco Bramani and a revolution in athletic footwear was quickly born.
The Vibram Bikila shoe is just one in the extensive Five Fingers line. These shoes feature a unique design much like you’d find in a toe sock, with each toe individually supported.
The top fabric is made of a stretch poly-mesh blend which is made to be breathable, flexible and quick drying. The soles of the shoes are made to put the feet as close to the ground as possible while still adding superior protection and support. The traction offered is contoured to the anatomy of the foot so as not to impede the natural feel of running barefoot.
There are many enthusiasts for running barefoot, as it provides crucial feedback on balance, the ground, and control. To provide these benefits while still protecting the feet from foreign objects, extreme heat or cold, the Vibram Bikila shoe was created. The unique design promotes stability and dexterity for more control and feedback while running, as well as more support for individual parts of the feet.

What Customers Say
“IF YOU RUN….. YOU NEED BIKILAS… Initially a little tricky to get your foot into because the fabric doesn’t have much give but once they are on they feel like butter!!!”

“I have been changing my training/running due to endurance athlete type injuries and questioning my athletic future with endurance sports UNTIL I started running in this shoe. I am running painfree!”

“I would recommend these shoes to anyone who wants to strengthen muscles in their feet and calves. I have a bulging disk and have trouble with back pain… I never have back pain when I am wearing these for over eight hours.”

The Vibram Bikila is best for those who are active on the forefront of their feet. Some people run or even hike and walk strictly on their toes, and others simply use the front of their feet to push off. Whatever the case, a person who puts a lot of strain on the front of their feet will benefit from the added support and shock absorption provided.
These shoes do, however, require a gradual buildup of leg and foot muscles which may not see much use with regular shoes. A slow transition will be best to avoid injuries or possible muscle fatigue. Many runners, including strict “barefoot enthusiasts” consider these to be superior running shoes.
